Ranchi: A meeting of the Jharkhand unit of the All India Postal/RMS Pensioners Association was held at the GPO under the chairmanship of K.D. Rai 'Vyathit'. The meeting deliberated on issues related to the 8th Pay Commission, irregularities in the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), delayed medicine supply, and the lack of Ayurvedic healthcare facilities.
The participants expressed concern that due to the proposed validation amendment, employees who retired on or before December 31, 2025, may be deprived of the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission. Speakers said that central pensioners' organizations and the Forum of Civil Pensioners Associations have been continuously protesting against the amendment since March 2025. They warned that a large number of central and state government pensioners could be adversely affected if the amendment is implemented.
The meeting also highlighted various issues at CGHS Ranchi, including the non-availability of medicines, delays in the supply of indented medicines, the absence of a Local Advisory Committee, and the failure to convene zonal and local advisory committee meetings for over three years. Members demanded the introduction of Ayurvedic treatment facilities at other CGHS wellness centres in Ranchi.
Speakers pointed out that the Union Health Ministry had approved Ayurvedic healthcare services at CGHS Ranchi seven years ago and had also sanctioned a post for an Ayurvedic physician. However, neither the CGHS Directorate nor the Joint Director's office in Ranchi has taken concrete steps to operationalize the facility.
On the occasion, the association, in collaboration with Rohini Dental Clinic, organized a free dental health camp. More than a dozen pensioners consulted Dr. Richa Singh during the camp.
The meeting was addressed by G.N. Sharma, Triveni Thakur, Mohammad Shameem Akhtar, Ranganath Pandey, Jayanarayan Prasad, Shashibhushan Pandey, S.S. Pathak, S.P. Mandal, G.D. Sahu, M.Z. Khan, K.D. Rai 'Vyathit', Ganesh Chandra De and others.
The gathering unanimously resolved to organize a one-day dharna on July 7 from 11 a.m. to protest against irregularities in CGHS services, non-availability of medicines, and delays in the supply of indented medicines. It was also decided that an association delegation would undertake organizational visits to Deoghar, Dumka, Gumla and Sahibganj during the second week of July.
Among those present were Triloki Nath Sahu, Sukhdev Ram, Mohammad Rafi, Rajendra Mahto, Devcharan Sahu, Syed Akhtar Shah, Ramesh Singh, Jairam Prasad, D.N. Sahu, Satyendra Prasad Singh, Parikshit Seth, Sheikh Shameem Ansari, Nand Kumar Pandey, Avadhesh Pathak, Ramesh Dubey and several other members.
