Bokaro: Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) has initiated a plan to revive long-abandoned Non-Residential Buildings (NRBs) in its township, converting them into productive ventures. These buildings, once used for schools, health centres and other facilities, had been lying idle for more than a decade, gradually deteriorating and raising safety concerns.
As per the new scheme, NRBs will be allotted on license basis for an initial period of 33 months, extendable twice. The allotment process will be conducted through an online forward auction to ensure transparency. Applicants are required to pay a refundable security deposit of ₹1 lakh along with an application fee of ₹10,000 for the unreserved category and ₹5,000 for the reserved category. After initial screening, shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in the bidding, and the highest bidder will secure the allotment.
The NRBs may be utilised for educational institutions, professional services, retail outlets and other permissible businesses, while restricted trades will not be allowed. Applications are open from August 25 to September 8, 2025, and can be submitted online at ta.bokarosteel.in/NRB.
T.A. GM A.K. Singh said that the initiative will give a new boost to the township, as long-unused structures will be transformed into centres of development and community benefit. He added that the effort will create opportunities for all sections of society and reflects BSL’s commitment to making its assets socially and economically productive.
