Ranchi:: A meeting of the All India Postal/RMS Pensioners Association, Jharkhand, was held at the Ranchi GPO on Friday under the chairmanship of K.D. Rai Vyasthit. The meeting decided to organise a dharna and demonstration at the Ranchi GPO premises at 3 pm on August 10 in support of the association’s 11-point charter of demands.
The association will also submit a memorandum containing its demands to the Secretary, Department of Posts, New Delhi.
Among the major demands are regularisation of the service period of RTP employees appointed in the Department of Posts between 1981 and 1983, withdrawal of the order transferring
pension-related work handled by major post offices to the office of the Director of Postal Accounts, and inclusion of the induction training period for the purpose of promotion and related benefits.
The association has also demanded that family pensioners be given the benefit of notional increment on the lines of serving employees, delays in sanctioning family pensions be eliminated, and disciplinary cases be disposed of without delay.
The meeting also expressed concern over irregularities and difficulties being faced under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). Issues relating to the supply of medicines through Jan Aushadhi were also discussed, with the association opposing any move to restrict the supply.
The members were informed that a Circle-level Pension Adalat will be held on August 11 at 11:30 am at the office of the Chief Postmaster General. The pension court will take up pension-related cases for resolution. The association will represent pensioners at the state-level Pension Adalat.
The association also expressed strong resentment over the non-payment of pension on the last working day in Ranchi on July 31. Members said that pension payments should be ensured on the last working day in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. They warned that failure to ensure timely payment would force the association to observe a protest day.
The meeting was addressed by State Secretary M.Z. Khan, State President Sadhan Kumar Sinha, G.N. Sharma, Triveni Thakur, S.P. Mandal and Ashok Kumar, among others.

Sahu, Hasina Tigga, Amita Tirkey, Isaac Minz, Baldev Sahu, Sukhdev Ram, Rajendra Mahto, Parikshit Seth, Rangnath Pandey, Dhaneshwar Goswami, Ramchandra Prasad, Awadhesh Pathak, Ramesh Singh, Jairam Prasad, Akhtar Shah, Md. Rafi Ahmed, S.P. Sinha, G.D. Sahu, Tulsi Oraon, Shiv Sevak Pathak, Ramesh Kashi and several other pensioners.
