Mission Shakti 5.0 Conference Champions Women’s Safety and Empowerment in Gautam Buddha Nagar

Gautam Buddha Nagar, October 11, 2025 – The Police Commissionerate Office in Gautam Buddha Nagar hosted a significant conference on Mission Shakti 5.0, themed “Women Safety and Security,” under the inspiring motto, “When women are safe, society thrives.” Organized under the aegis of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the event underscored the state’s commitment to fostering women’s safety, empowerment, and self-reliance. The program saw active participation from students of the School of Law, Galgotias University, led by Dr. Shivangi Sharma, alongside distinguished guests from medicine, education, industry, NGOs, and social work sectors.

The district-level awareness program brought together a diverse audience, including 20 internal and 190 external attendees, to discuss the strides made in women’s welfare and the collective vision for a safer, more equitable society by 2047. Key dignitaries, including Smt. Vilma Batham, Hon’ble MLA and Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women, the Hon’ble DIG HQ, and DIG L&O Shri Rajeev Narain Mishra, graced the event, emphasizing the critical role of collaborative efforts in advancing women’s security and dignity.


Shri Rajeev Narain Mishra, DIG L&O, opened his address by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, invoking his principles of peace, non-violence, and justice as the foundation for effective governance and policing. He lauded the efficiency of Uttar Pradesh’s law and order machinery, particularly highlighting the active participation of female police officers in ensuring women’s safety. “Our daughters are capable and empowered,” he declared, referencing the slogan “Hamari Betiyan Shaksham Hain” to underscore the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Mishra also addressed the need to eradicate social evils like the dowry system, advocating for a society rooted in harmony and respect with the principle, “Na hi dhan launga, na hi danga” (neither will I take dowry nor promote conflict). He acknowledged the challenges women face and emphasized collective responsibility, concluding with an inspiring note: “Maan ka haar, haar hai; maan ka jeet, jeet hai” (A loss of dignity is a loss; a victory of dignity is a victory).

The Hon’ble DIG HQ provided insights into the successful implementation of Mission Shakti, launched on September 21, 2025, as a flagship initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government. He detailed the police force’s proactive measures, including 24/7 surveillance of identified hotspots, regular patrolling, and the establishment of 27 Link Booths in Noida as safe spaces for women. The Women Helpline’s efficient operations were also highlighted, ensuring timely support for those in distress. The DIG HQ emphasized grassroots efforts, with police teams conducting awareness campaigns in villages and public spaces to foster a sense of security among women. He concluded by expressing gratitude to all attendees and extending his blessings for continued efforts toward women’s empowerment.


Smt. Vilma Batham, Hon’ble MLA and Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women, delivered a powerful address, commending the leadership of India’s Prime Minister and Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister for prioritizing women’s welfare. She noted significant improvements in women’s safety under the current administration, with Uttar Pradesh Police adopting a sensitive and respectful approach at the thana level to address victims’ concerns.

Batham highlighted transformative government schemes like Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), which have empowered women through skill development and income-generating opportunities in fields like handicrafts. She celebrated women’s growing presence in leadership roles across politics, administration, and law enforcement, while acknowledging the need for continued efforts in rural areas to address persistent safety and awareness challenges. “Nothing is impossible for women if they are determined,” she affirmed, describing women as “shaksham” (capable) and “shaktishali” (powerful). She concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants.

The Mission Shakti 5.0 conference successfully amplified awareness about women’s safety and empowerment initiatives, fostering a sense of collective responsibility among attendees. Discussions underscored the vital roles of the police, administration, and society in building a gender-equal future. The event highlighted key government programs, such as Kaushal Vikas Yojana and SHGs, as cornerstones of women’s self-reliance, while reinforcing the state’s vision for a stronger, safer society by 2047.

With contributions from distinguished speakers, the program inspired actionable steps toward eradicating social challenges and enhancing women’s participation in public life.
