Ranchi: On the occasion of the first death anniversary of Padma Bhushan awardee and Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the Ranchi district administration organised a blood donation camp at the District Collectorate under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri .
During the programme, families of children suffering from thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia, along with members of the voluntary blood donation organisation Lahu Bolega and the Jharkhand Thalassemia–Sickle Cell Anaemia–Haemophilia–Aplastic Anaemia Patients' Association, felicitated the Deputy Commissioner with a traditional Jharkhandi gamchha and flowers in recognition of the administration's initiative.
The representatives said that regular blood donation drives would ensure a steady supply of blood for patients battling chronic blood disorders, particularly children with thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia. They also urged the district administration to institutionalise such donation camps and raised issues related to blood bank facilities, availability of medicines, disability pensions and educational support for affected children.
Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri patiently heard the concerns of the families and directed the concerned officials to take necessary action. He also instructed officials to expedite pending cases related to disability pensions and education benefits for eligible patients.
The representatives also expressed their appreciation to Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan ,Sub-Divisional Officer Kumar Rajat ,Additional District Magistrate Sudarshan Murmu and Assistant Director of Social Security Ravishankar Mishra for their support.
Among those present at the programme were Sanjay Toppo, Devki Devi, Seema Devi, Farhaya Bilkis, Sujata Kumari, Sanju Kumari, Sangeeta Kumari, Shanti Devi, Tejlal Mahto, and voluntary blood donors Nadeem Khan, Sajid Umar, Md. Babbar and Md. Rahil.
