Jharkhand's Legacy of Brave Warriors Will Be Written in Golden Letters: Hemant Soren

Chief Minister pays tribute to Sido-Kanhu on Hul Diwas, says the flame of revolution can never be extinguished

RANCHI: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by MLA Kalpana Soren, paid floral tributes to the statue of Hul rebellion heroes, the immortal martyrs Sido-Kanhu, at Sido-Kanhu Park in Morabadi, Ranchi, on the occasion of Hul Diwas on Monday. Several public representatives, government officials, social activists and citizens also participated in the tribute ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described Hul Diwas as a historic occasion symbolising the courage, sacrifice and spirit of resistance against oppression. He said the day commemorates the unparalleled struggle of the tribal heroes who challenged British colonial rule and an exploitative system at a time when people had little hope of justice.

Soren said that the legendary martyrs Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, and brave sisters Phulo-Jhano launched a historic uprising against injustice without worrying about the consequences. Their movement, he said, was not merely a tribal revolt but a fight for the rights, dignity and freedom of all oppressed communities.

The Chief Minister observed that throughout history, every major social transformation has begun with resistance against exploitation. "Even today, wherever weaker and marginalised sections face injustice, change begins with their struggle," he said, adding that the ideals of the Hul Rebellion continue to inspire society.

Calling Jharkhand a land of brave hearts, Soren said the state has produced countless heroes who laid down their lives to protect their land, identity, culture and self-respect. He asserted that the sacrifices of these great personalities remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

He further said that remembering such icons is not merely a ceremonial exercise but a reaffirmation of the values of justice, equality and social harmony. The state government, he added, remains committed to preserving and promoting the legacy of these freedom fighters and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their ideals.

"The flame of revolution never dies and can never be extinguished. Its spark continues to live forever," the Chief Minister said. Referring to the eternal flames at national memorials such as Rajghat and India Gate in New Delhi, he remarked that they symbolise the nation's everlasting respect for its martyrs.

Concluding his address, Soren said the history of the Hul Rebellion is a priceless chapter in India's freedom movement and that the sacrifices of Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano and other tribal heroes will forever be remembered in golden letters, inspiring generations to uphold justice, dignity and the spirit of resistance against oppression.
