Ranchi: On the occasion of the martyrdom day of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located at Bapu Vatika, Morabadi Ground, on Thursday. Minister Smt. Deepika Pandey Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Mahua Maji also offered flowers and paid homage to the great leader.
On the occasion, artists from a bhajan mandali presented Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans and Ramdhun at the Bapu Vatika premises. The devotional renditions created a solemn and emotional atmosphere, deeply moving the Governor, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present.
Addressing media persons, Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that Mahatma Gandhi’s life remains a source of inspiration for the entire nation. He emphasized that following Gandhiji’s ideals of truth, non-violence and sacrifice would be the true tribute to him. The Governor also expressed gratitude to the Government of India for conferring the Padma Bhushan award on former Chief Minister and Dishom Guru, late Shri Shibu Soren. He said the honour is a matter of pride for the entire state and reflects the Centre’s sensitivity towards Jharkhand. The contribution of late Shri Shibu Soren in the formation of the state, he added, will always be remembered.
Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, while paying tribute, said that the entire nation is remembering Mahatma Gandhi with reverence on his martyrdom day. He noted that Gandhiji’s personality, philosophy of life, sacrifice, struggle and ideals continue to inspire not only India but the entire world. The Chief Minister stated that by following the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, the vision of a prosperous state, a developed nation and a peaceful world based on coexistence can be realized.
