The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has named Priya Ranjan as its choice for Director In-charge
of Bokaro Steel Plant, a key unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The recommendation followed interviews of 12 shortlisted contenders.
Currently Executive Director (Operations) at SAIL headquarters, Ranjan brings over three decades of technical and administrative experience in the steel industry. An alumnus of BIT Sindri, he joined SAIL in 1994 at IISCO Steel Plant and went on to hold critical roles in Steel Melting Shop, PPC, and later in the Chairman’s Secretariat at New Delhi.
His career milestones include a promotion to Deputy General Manager in 2016, appointment as Technical Assistant to the Executive Director (Works), and elevation to Executive Director (Operations) in 2024.
With his new role, Ranjan will lead Bokaro Steel Plant at a crucial juncture, as the unit pursues ambitious expansion, technological upgradation, and sustainability projects. Industry watchers see his appointment as a step towards renewed growth and modernization for SAIL’s flagship facility.
