Health Services in Crisis, CPI(M) Demands Immediate Government Intervention

Ranchi: Health services in the state are facing a deepening crisis as payments to hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman scheme remain pending. Several private hospitals have reportedly stopped treating patients with serious illnesses, causing significant hardship.

In the state capital Ranchi, many major private hospitals are empanelled under the Ayushman scheme and have been providing treatment to beneficiaries. However, due to non-payment of dues by the government, hospital managements are now reluctant to treat Ayushman cardholders.

At HEC Paras Hospital in Ranchi, dialysis services for Ayushman cardholders have also been discontinued. Similarly, several private hospitals in the city are offering treatment under the scheme only in limited departments. For instance, Guru Nanak Hospital is reportedly treating only orthopedic patients under the Ayushman scheme.

The CPI(M) state secretariat has urged the Health Minister to take immediate and effective steps to resolve the issues faced by Ayushman cardholders and ensure uninterrupted treatment.

CPI(M) State Secretary Prakash Viplav said that poor and needy patients are bearing the brunt of the government’s negligence. He warned that if the pending dues of hospitals are not cleared soon, the healthcare system may deteriorate further. He demanded immediate government intervention to clear all pending payments and ensure seamless treatment for Ayushman beneficiaries.
