Ranchi: The All India Postal/RMS Pensioners Association, Ranchi, staged a protest on Monday in front of the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Ranchi, at the Ranchi GPO, demanding action on its 11-point charter of demands. The protest was organised following a call by the association’s Central Committee.
The demonstration was led by State Secretary M.Z. Khan, Working President K.D. Rai Vyathit, Triveni Thakur and Jai Narayan Prasad.
Among those present were Mohammad Shamim Akhtar, Ranganath Pandey, Jai Narayan Prasad, Triloki Nath Sahu, Devcharan Sahu, D.J. Minj, Ashok Kumar and Ramchandra Prasad, along with other pensioners.
Similar demonstrations were also organised in Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj and Giridih.Following the protest, the association submitted a memorandum addressed to the Secretary, Department of Posts, New Delhi, to the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Ranchi.

The major demands include regularisation of service rendered in the RTP cadre between 1981 and 1983; extending the benefit of one additional increment granted to employees retiring on June 30 and December 31 to family pensioners as well; withdrawal of the order transferring
pension-related work handled by Head Post Offices to the Directorate of Postal Accounts; and an end to undue delays in sanctioning family pensions.
The association urged the postal authorities to take early action on all pending demands.
