Bokaro, October 18: With the ongoing blockade of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) gates disrupting industrial operations and raising serious concerns over the safety of employees, the Bokaro Steel Officers’ Association has sought urgent intervention by Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha to restore access to the plant, protect officers and employees, and bring the situation under control.
In a letter dated October 17, association president AK Singh drew attention to the grave situation arising from the agitation by displaced groups. He stated that several officers who entered the plant on the morning of October 16 had remained inside the premises, facing prolonged confinement and difficulties in accessing food and other essential supplies. Some officers were also reportedly experiencing health-related problems.
The association expressed serious concern over the complete stoppage of production, warning of substantial losses to the organisation as the industrial deadlock continued. It also flagged a video circulating on social media that allegedly contains open threats against BSL officers, including warnings of harm to them and their families. The association said the developments had heightened fear and insecurity among officers and their family members.
Emphasising that Bokaro Steel Plant brings together employees from across the country and represents the spirit of national integration, the association said the prevailing situation had undermined the sense of safety essential for the functioning of a major industrial establishment.
The letter also pointed to the growing challenge the situation poses to law enforcement and the administrative machinery of Bokaro Steel City. Seeking decisive and timely action, the association urged the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the safety of officers and employees, facilitate the safe movement of personnel through the plant gates and restore normalcy.
The association maintained that effective administrative intervention was crucial not only to protect employees and restore their confidence but also to enable the resumption of production at the steel plant.
