Allege attempt to divert students amid ongoing talks with state government
RANCHI: Left parties have reiterated their solidarity with the ongoing agitation of JPSC and JSSC aspirants and students in Ranchi, alleging that the BJP leadership is attempting to mislead and divert the protesting candidates.
The Left parties said that at a time when a positive dialogue is underway between the protesting candidates and the four-member group of ministers constituted by the Chief Minister, BJP leaders are visiting the protesters and allegedly creating confusion among them.
They said the BJP was rattled by the unprecedented student movement at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over paper leaks and demands for the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to the Left parties, the success of the movement eventually led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They claimed that students did not retreat despite what they described as heavy police repression in Delhi.
The Left parties further alleged that the Jharkhand government has chosen the path of dialogue with the protesting students, which has upset the BJP. They claimed that the BJP does not want alleged irregularities in competitive examinations during the tenure of previous governments to come to light, as it could also expose the alleged involvement of the BJP-AJSU alliance.
Questions raised over demand for CBI probe
The Left parties said the arrest of the outgoing JPSC chairman, the resignation of the incumbent chairman and his prolonged questioning, along with the arrest of several people associated with the JPSC by the CID, indicate that the state government is serious about the investigation.
They also questioned the BJP's demand for a CBI probe, alleging that such a move could delay the resolution of the matter. The Left parties claimed that the CBI had already taken considerable time in investigating alleged irregularities in the first and second JPSC examinations. They also raised questions over the alleged delay in transferring cases related to competitive examinations to fast-track courts.
The Left parties said they had consistently urged the state government to hold talks with the protesting candidates and find a solution to their grievances. If the candidates demand a judicial inquiry, the government should also be prepared to consider the demand positively, they said.

Strongly criticising what they termed the BJP's alleged attempt to divert the movement, the Left parties said that instead of resolving the issue, efforts were being made to use the future of the aspirants for narrow political interests.
The Left parties also expressed dissatisfaction with the state government's decision to hold discussions with JKLM, NSUI and the Tribal Students' Union, along with competitive examination aspirants. They questioned why Left student organisations had not been invited for talks when discussions were being held with other student organisations.
The Left parties maintained that the focus should remain on addressing the grievances of the aspirants and ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment process.
