Ranchi: The Janwadi Lekhak Sangh (JALES), Ranchi, has expressed solidarity with students protesting at Jaipal Singh Stadium over alleged irregularities, delays and lack of transparency in the JPSC and other competitive examinations. The organisation urged the state government to invite representatives of the protesting students for talks without further delay and take concrete and credible steps to address their legitimate demands.
JALES secretary M. Z. Khan said students are the future builders of society and the nation. “Any tampering with their future, hard work and aspirations is not only an injustice to them but also an injustice to the future of society and the state,” he said.
He said the repeated questions being raised over the competitive examination system have created a sense of dissatisfaction and mistrust among students and youth. Their democratic, peaceful and constitutional expression of grievances must be taken seriously, he added.
Khan said ensuring transparency, accountability and equal opportunities in the education and examination system is a primary responsibility of the government. Problems can be resolved only through dialogue and democratic processes, rather than neglect or confrontation, he said.
“Listening to democratic movements and engaging in dialogue with them is the responsibility of a sensitive government. Instead of suppressing the voices of students, a fair resolution of their demands will strengthen democracy,” Khan said.
JALES said that at its upcoming meeting on August 9, the organisation will discuss and decide on holding a poetry recital and cultural solidarity programme among the protesting students at Jaipal Singh Stadium.
