61 Nadi Vaidyas and 9 dedicated social service workers receive ‘Ustad Samman-2026’
Ranchi: Seventy personalities who have been engaged in free humanitarian and social service for years were felicitated at the ‘Ustad Samman-2026’ ceremony held at Ken Hotel on Main Road, Ranchi.
The programme was jointly organised by Lahu Bolega Blood Donation Organisation, Ranchi, and the Jharkhand Thalassemia-Sickle Cell Anaemia-Haemophilia-Aplastic Anaemia Patients’ Association in memory of renowned Nadi Vaidyas Late Qurban Ustad and Singh Ji Daddu.
A total of 61 Nadi Vaidyas and nine personalities dedicated to humanitarian service were felicitated by former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, the chief guest, and Shamsher Alam, Vice-Chairperson of the Jharkhand State Minorities Commission. The awardees were presented with mementoes, traditional Jharkhandi angavastrams and rose flowers.
Family members and relatives of deceased Nadi Vaidyas were also honoured. Among them were Azam Ahmed, Jharkhand movement activist and son of Late Qurban Ustad, and Haji Islam, a Nadi Vaidya. Senior Nadi Vaidyas including Nandu Gop ‘Nandu Bhai’, Haji Islam, Md. Chand, Ejaz Ansari, A. Salam, Tauhid Qureshi ‘Butru’ and Powell Kumar, among others, were also felicitated.
Sahay praises humanitarian initiatives
Chief guest Subodh Kant Sahay appreciated the initiative and said that the honoured personalities had been serving society for years through their skills and dedication. He described the work of Lahu Bolega as highly humanitarian and commendable and assured his support for such initiatives.
Sahay announced that regular blood donors in Ranchi would also be felicitated after August 15. He said that, considering the shortage of blood, collective efforts would be made to organise blood donation camps in the city.
Shamsher Alam, Vice-Chairperson of the Jharkhand State Minorities Commission, said that Lahu Bolega had been continuously involved in humanitarian activities. Describing the programme as an excellent initiative, he said that issues related to thalassemia and blood donation would also be discussed with the government.
Five-point resolution adopted
A five-point resolution was adopted at the programme
It included promoting blood donation as a noble humanitarian service, encouraging individuals and groups engaged in public welfare, promoting traditional healthcare practices and the work of Nadi Vaidyas, intensifying the anti-addiction campaign, and encouraging every responsible individual and group to undertake plantation during the monsoon.
The programme was presided over by blood donor Nadeem Khan. E. Shahnawaz Abbas conducted the proceedings, while Javed Khan introduced the subject, Sagar Kumar presented the proposal and Azam Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks.
Thalassemia patients, their family members and blood donors welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries by presenting them with mementoes, Jharkhandi angavastrams and rose flowers.

Mojahid and Buland Akhtar; teacher Nigar Sultana; Sabuihi Madam, and several others.
