Ranchi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has sharply criticized the 9th Union Budget presented by the NDA government, terming it anti-people and detrimental to the federal structure of the country. CPI(M) State Secretary Prakash Viplav said the budget has been framed to benefit big corporate houses and the wealthy, while ignoring the concerns of the common people.
He alleged that the Union Budget has imposed substantial cuts in allocations to states, including funds under various centrally sponsored schemes, which would severely affect developmental activities. According to him, states like Jharkhand will bear the brunt of these reductions, as they are already grappling with financial constraints and developmental challenges.
Prakash Viplav further stated that the budget fails to address critical issues such as employment generation, price rise, education, healthcare, and social security. Instead, the central government has extended relief and concessions to large corporate entities, a move that is likely to deepen economic inequality in the country.
Accusing the Centre of undermining the spirit of cooperative federalism, the CPI(M) leader said the budget curtails the rights and financial autonomy of the states. He asserted that the party outrightly rejects the budget and will oppose it at all levels.
Announcing the party’s future course of action, Prakash Viplav said the CPI(M) will take to the streets in protest against the NDA government’s budget and mobilize public opinion against its anti-people policies. He reiterated that the party would continue its struggle to protect the interests of the masses.
