Call to Intensify Struggle Against Pension Act Amendment





Ranchi: A meeting of the All India Postal RMS Pensioners Association was held at Ranchi GPO under the chairmanship of Girija Nand Sharma. The meeting resolved to participate in the fourth national conference scheduled to be held in Guwahati from March 28 to 29.



The State Secretary informed the members that Ranchi will send 10 representatives, while a total of 36 delegates and visitors from Jharkhand will represent the state at the national conference. The delegation includes 13 members from Jamshedpur, three from Dhanbad, four from Palamu, and six from Hazaribagh.


The meeting expressed deep concern over the validation amendment made to the Pension Act. Speakers stated that a nationwide movement against the amendment is being carried out under the leadership of the Forum of Civil Pensioners Association. A writ petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court, as the amendment is alleged to violate Article 14 of the Constitution.


It was further stated that if the Central Government does not withdraw this stringent amendment, employees retiring up to December 31, 2025, will be deprived of the benefits of the Eighth Pay Commission.


The meeting called upon all pensioners in Jharkhand to unite and strengthen the struggle against the amendment.

Shamim Akhtar, Janardan Prasad, Dhaneshwar Goswami, Hasina Grace Tigga, Noor Mohammad, Bachnu Sahu, Sukhdev Ram, Rajendra Mahato, Jairam Prasad, Rafi Ahmad, Sheikh Shamim Ansari, Brahmdev Mishra, Deepak Kumar Verma, Manrakhan Mahato, Ram Lakhan Singh, Avdhesh Pathak, R.B. Baitha, Ishaq Minz, Baldev Sahu, and other members.


The proceedings were conducted by M.Z. Khan, while Hasina Tigga proposed the vote of thanks.
