Ranchi: The Jharkhand State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has expressed serious concern over the alleged threat received by MLA Arup Chatterjee in the name of Prince Khan from Dubai. The party has termed the incident alarming and called for immediate action to ensure the legislator's safety.
In a statement, the CPI(M) urged the state's Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Secretary to order a high-level investigation into the matter and provide adequate security to the MLA without delay.
The party said that threatening an elected representative and trade union leader reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and indicates growing confidence among criminal elements.
Condemning the incident, the CPI(M) demanded a fair and thorough probe, strict action against those responsible, and immediate measures to ensure the security of MLA Arup Chatterjee.
