Ranchi: CPI(ML), the All India Students' Association (AISA), AIPWA, and several student, youth, social, and political organisations staged a protest at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi against paper leaks and alleged corruption in the country's examination system. The protesters demanded the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and the introduction of a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free examination system. They also expressed solidarity with environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk following his arrest and extended support to the hunger strike of AISA Central President Neha, along with Manish and Ameen, at Jantar Mantar.
Addressing the gathering, CPI(ML) Jharkhand State Secretary Manoj Bhakt said repeated paper leaks and irregularities in examinations had put the future of millions of students at risk. He termed the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk and the action against peacefully protesting students an attack on democratic rights and urged the government to respond to students' demands instead of suppressing dissent.
AIPWA leader Nandita Bhattacharya said the crackdown on students and social activists raising issues related to education was a matter of serious concern for democracy. AISA Jharkhand State Vice-President Vijay Kumar alleged that the repeated failures of the NTA had eroded students' trust in the examination system and demanded comprehensive reforms. State Joint Secretary Sanjana Mehta said the voices of young people demanding better education and employment opportunities could not be silenced.
The protest was attended by CPI(ML) Central Committee member Shubhendu Sen, former AISA Jharkhand State President Sohel Ansari, Aeti Tirkey, Shanti Sen, Akash Ranjan, Satya Prakash, Pratibha, Nikhil, Sonu, Nishad, Shwet Kamal, and a large number of students, intellectuals, social activists, and representatives of various organisations.
