DC Ajay Nath Jha Issues Video Appeal

Bokaro: Stepping up efforts to counter panic triggered by rumours of child-lifting, the district administration has launched strict action against those spreading misinformation online. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha shared a video message addressing residents, urging them to remain calm and not fall prey to unverified claims circulating on social media.

During a review of recent online activity, authorities identified more than 300 social media accounts allegedly involved in spreading misleading messages and videos. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and arrests will be made wherever concrete evidence is found.

In his video appeal, the DC emphasised that rumours can disrupt public order and create unnecessary fear. He called upon citizens to verify information before sharing and to report any suspicious activity directly to police by dialling 112.

The administration has also warned that any individual resorting to violence or taking the law into their own hands based on rumours will face strict legal consequences. Police have been directed to intensify patrolling, strengthen cyber monitoring, and ensure swift action to maintain peace and harmony in the district.
