Adivasi Adhikar Manch Celebrates 150th Birth Anniversary of Birsa Munda, Resolves to Protect Forests, Land and Resist Divisive Politics


Ranchi::Adivasi Adhikar Manch, Jharkhand,
today celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Shaheed Birsa Munda by garlanding his statue located outside Ranchi Airport. Leaders and members present on the occasion paid heartfelt tributes to the legendary tribal freedom fighter.



Addressing the Sankalp Sabha held after the tribute ceremony, the state convenor of the Manch, Sukhnath Lohra, said that the corporate-driven amendments made by the Modi government in forest laws have weakened Gram Sabhas, which calls for a strong public movement. He emphasized the need to effectively implement the Forest Rights Act, ensure the distribution of forest land titles, strictly enforce the Fifth Schedule, CNT and SPT Acts, and intensify the struggle to stop the exploitation of Jal–Jungle–Zameen (water, forests, land).He further urged that all Adivasi communities must unite and resist divisive politics.



The meeting was chaired by the Chotanagpur convenor of the Manch, Prakash Toppo.Among those present were Dr. Kirti Singh Munda, Budhram Oraon, Suresh Gop (General Secretary, Airport Displaced Front), Ajit Oraon (President, Parha Committee), Councillor Pushpa Tirkey, former Mukhia Nicholas Ekka, Seema Kerketta, Ganpati Bhokta, Amit Munda, Asrita Toppo, Amit Kachhap, Rohit Tirkey, Tetra Oraon, Benjamin Kujur, and many others.
