Dumka/Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday visited the Government Residential School for Deaf and Mute in Dumka and interacted with the students. He enquired about their educational activities, facilities available at the school and their requirements.
The Governor said that children with disabilities are an equally important part of the mainstream of society. He stressed the need for families, society, educational institutions and the government to work together to create a supportive environment for their overall development.
Addressing the students, Gangwar urged them to have faith in their abilities and talents and pursue their goals through education. He said that students should inform him of any difficulties or requirements they face so that possible assistance could be extended from his side.
During the interaction, the Governor said that he is a native of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, where a school for deaf and mute students is also functioning. He said he has remained in contact with teachers associated with the institution in Bareilly.
The Governor also inspected the classrooms and computer laboratory of the school. Interacting with the students, he encouraged them to move forward with confidence and recognise their talents. He said society must ensure equal opportunities, respect and support for such children so that they can realise their potential and fulfil their dreams.
He also appealed to members of society to encourage children with disabilities and actively contribute to their education and development.
On the occasion, the Governor distributed various assets among the students and felicitated elderly persons.
