DC Offers Prayers at St. Mary’s Church on Good Friday, Calls for Compassion and Humanity

Emphasises sacrifice, forgiveness and collective responsibility in today’s society

Bokaro, Friday: On the solemn occasion of Good Friday, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha visited St. Mary’s Church in Sector 04 and offered prayers, lighting a lamp before the statue of Mother Mary while wishing peace, compassion, safety and inner strength for the people of the district.

Addressing the gathering, he said Good Friday is not merely a day of prayer but a reminder of the highest human values—sacrifice, forgiveness, love and selfless service. Referring to the final words of Jesus Christ—“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”—he noted that the message elevates humanity to the highest form of compassion and forgiveness.

Highlighting the emotional depth of the occasion, the DC described Mother Mary’s silent suffering at the foot of the cross as a powerful symbol of human sensitivity and shared pain. He said it reflects the unseen struggles behind every hardship, reminding society of the need for empathy and understanding.

He further stressed that in a time marked by social challenges and inequalities, the message of Good Friday must translate into action—efforts that support the distressed, uplift the underprivileged and strengthen justice, dignity and compassion in society.

Calling for collective responsibility, he urged citizens to imbibe these values in daily life and contribute towards building a humane and inclusive society. He concluded by extending his wishes for peace, prosperity and well-being of all residents.
