Connects COVID-19 hardships with message of unity, highlights film’s awards and stresses role of administration for the people
Bokaro: Stating that officers are meant not to serve other officers but the people, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha shared his reflections linking the pain of the COVID-19 period with the message of hope portrayed in the film Panchlait, based on a story by Phanishwar Nath Renu.
He recalled his association with the film’s shooting in Dumka and Deoghar and appreciated how it presents village life, unity, and self-respect in a simple and realistic manner. He said the film also highlighted local heritage and earned recognition at several film festivals, including its official selection at the 49th International Film Festival of India Trade Fair, along with other accolades.
Talking about the COVID-19 period, Jha described it as a time of great loss and struggle. He mentioned the hardships faced by migrant workers, the pain of losing loved ones, and the emotional impact of the second wave. In such difficult times, he found Panchlait inspiring and comforting.
He added that the message of unity and strength shown in the film should guide administrative work. Strengthening local systems, ensuring benefits reach every person, and encouraging community participation are essential. He stressed that governance rooted in empathy and public service is key to rebuilding trust and moving forward.
Reflecting further, he noted that the pain of the 2021 pandemic still lingers in many lives. While life continues to move forward, the memories of loss remain, shaping both personal and collective resilience in the years ahead.
