CITU to Intensify Struggle Against Labour Codes and Anti-Worker Policies




Ranchi:; The Jharkhand State Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has resolved to intensify its struggle against labour codes and what it described as anti-worker policies of the Central government.


The decision was taken at a meeting held on Friday at Darbhanga House, CCL Headquarters, under the chairmanship of State President and Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee. The meeting was conducted by Working President Bhavan Singh.



The committee also decided to ensure the success of the upcoming All India Working Committee meeting of CITU, scheduled to be held in Ranchi from July 16 to 19. Around 150 trade union leaders from across the country are expected to participate in the meeting.


Presenting the report, State General Secretary Vishwajit Dev alleged that the policies of the Modi government are aligned with imperialist interests and are detrimental to workers. He further accused BJP-RSS of pushing a divisive communal agenda to weaken the unity of the working class.He also expressed concern over the transfer of Jharkhand’s mineral resources to corporate houses, which, he said, is leading to increased displacement and hardships for local communities.



Addressing the meeting, Arup Chatterjee stressed the need to intensify the struggle against anti-people policies of the Centre.He urged the state government not to implement labour codes in Jharkhand in the interest of workers and employees.

The meeting also resolved to organise a statewide protest in September on pressing  public and labour-related issues.




Several leaders including Prakash Viplav, Pratik Mishra, R.P. Singh, Jaynarayan Mahto, Sanjay Paswan, Meenu Murmu, Arun Singh, Manas Chatterjee, Shailesh Kumar, Harendra Yadav and Pradeep Biswas, also expressed their views.
