Expansion to Create Jobs as BSL Rolls Out Health Cover, Plans Kritagyata Park

 


Welfare measures for contract workers and displaced families underline plant’s inclusive growth approach


Bokaro:

The Bokaro Steel Plant has introduced the ‘Sanjeevani’ group health insurance scheme to strengthen medical and social security for its contract workforce. The scheme will benefit nearly 7,000 contract workers, offering in patient treatment coverage of up to ₹4 lakh along with ₹1,500 annual OPD support.


The programme will be implemented through the Bokaro Welfare Trust, while insurance coverage will be provided by Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. Officials said the scheme is expected to provide financial protection against medical emergencies and reinforce a more secure and dignified work environment for contract employees.


Recognising the contribution of the local community in the growth of the steel city, the plant management has also announced the development of Kritagyata Park in Sector 11. The park will serve as a tribute to residents whose support and cooperation played an important role in the establishment and expansion of the steel plant.


At the same time, the plant is continuing efforts to support displaced families and local youth. Apprentices trained in the region are being given priority engagement through contractors in plant related work. So far more than 100 youths have been accommodated, while arrangements are underway to provide opportunities to another 125 youths in the coming months.


With the proposed expansion of the plant, officials believe that production capacity as well as employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the region will grow further, strengthening the link between industrial progress and local community development.
