Ranchi/Tinsukia (Assam):Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren attended a grand Tribal Convention organized by the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) in Tinsukia district of Assam on Sunday. Thousands of people from the tribal community participated in the convention, showcasing their rich cultural heritage through traditional dances, folk songs, and cultural performances.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that he feels a deep sense of emotional connection with the tribal society of Assam and expressed happiness at getting the opportunity to interact directly with such a large tribal gathering. He said,
“Today, I had the opportunity to meet thousands of my tribal brothers, sisters, and elders in Assam. I extend my heartfelt gratitude and Johar to all of you for inviting me to this historic convention.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that unity, cultural identity, and social empowerment of the tribal community play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s democratic framework. He stressed the need for continuous and collective efforts to safeguard tribal rights, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, employment, and the protection of land, forests, and natural resources.
During the event, office-bearers of AASAA highlighted the social, educational, and cultural challenges faced by tribal communities in Northeast India. They urged both the Central and State governments to take concrete and long-term measures to address these issues.
The Tribal Convention held in Tinsukia is being viewed as a symbol of unity, cultural awareness, and social strength of tribal communities in Northeast India. Political observers believe that the presence of the Jharkhand Chief Minister not only strengthens ties between the tribal communities of Jharkhand and Assam but also opens new avenues for social, cultural, and political cooperation in the Northeastern region.
