Linking their aspirations with the city’s growth, around ten thousand school students from Bokaro have urged the Central Government to restart the stalled expansion of the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) and upgrade Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) into a super specialty hospital.
The students, studying in Classes X, XI and XII across government and private schools, wrote postcards to the Prime Minister as part of an initiative led by social activist Kumar Amit. Schools such as Delhi Public School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, DAV, Ayyappa School and Bokaro Public School actively participated in the campaign.
Kumar Amit said the revival of BSL expansion is critical for Bokaro’s long-term development, as it would generate employment opportunities for the youth in the coming years. He also acknowledged the support extended by school managements and educators.
According to organisers, nearly forty thousand postcards have been sent so far. Residents remain hopeful that the collective appeal will prompt the Centre to take steps towards industrial expansion and improved healthcare facilities in Bokaro.
