Model Code of Conduct Enforced in Chas–Phusro After Civic Poll Announcement

 



DC Bokaro briefs media on election schedule, preparations at press conference


Bokaro: With the formal announcement of the Municipal General Election–2026 by the State Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the Chas Municipal Corporation area and Phusro Municipal Council region. This was announced on Tuesday during a press conference held at the district headquarters by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh was also present.


Addressing the media, the Deputy Commissioner said that the nomination process will begin on January 29 and continue till February 4. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 5, withdrawal on February 6 and allotment of election symbols on February 7. Polling will take place on February 23 from 7 am to 5 pm, while counting of votes is scheduled for February 27 at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee premises in Chas.


He said the district administration is fully prepared to conduct the elections in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner, strictly in accordance with the directives of the State Election Commission. All returning and assistant returning officers have been appointed and the updated voter lists have been uploaded on the official district website. He also clarified that the NOTA option will not be available in this municipal election.


Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh said adequate police deployment would be ensured throughout the election process, with special security arrangements at sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations.


The district administration appealed to voters to exercise their franchise fearlessly and urged all candidates to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct.
