Ranchi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has termed the brutal killing of 46-year-old Pappu Ansari by a mob near Matihani and Sugabathan villages under the Podaiyahat police station area of Godda district as horrifying and deeply alarming. The party stated that such incidents raise serious questions about the law and order situation in the state and push society into an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
Pappu Ansari, a resident of Ranidih village in Pathargama block of Godda district, had gone to Podaiyahat for work when he was allegedly attacked and killed by a mob.
Calling the incident a blot on humanity, the CPI(M) demanded swift and strict action against the culprits. The party warned that failure to act firmly would embolden communal and criminal elements who seek to promote divisive politics in society.
After receiving information about the incident, a CPI(M) fact-finding team led by state committee member Ashok Sah, along with Barik Khan and Saifuddin Ansari, visited the victim’s village. The team met the deceased’s elder brother Mujib Ansari and other family members to gather detailed information about the incident.
The party noted with concern that this is the second incident of mob lynching in the Santhal Pargana region in recent times. The CPI(M)
state secretariat has demanded that the
Hemant government conduct a fair and
speedy investigation, arrest all those
responsible and ensure strict
punishment.
The party has also demanded adequate
compensation for the victim’s family and
a government job for one member of the
bereaved family.
