DC, BSL DIC Drive Kalinga Model School Plan to Boost Bokaro’s Education Hub Status

Bokaro, already recognised for its strong network of reputed schools, is set to further enhance its education profile with the proposed establishment of a national-level residential school on the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar model in the Bokaro Steel City area.

The proposal was reviewed at a meeting held at Bokaro Niwas Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. The meeting was attended by BSL Director In-Charge Priya Ranjan, KISS–KIIT advisor and founder member Punit Pradhan, Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Mazumdar, and senior officials. Key issues related to land identification, infrastructure, and the academic framework were discussed.

The Deputy Commissioner said Bokaro’s educational legacy makes it an ideal location for such an institution, adding that the initiative reflects the state leadership’s focus on quality, inclusive, and residential education for tribal and underprivileged children.

BSL Director In-Charge Priya Ranjan assured full cooperation and said the Bokaro Steel Plant management has begun identifying 25 to 30 acres of land within the BSL area for the project.

A joint team of the district administration and BSL will visit KISS Bhubaneswar in the first week of February to study the Kalinga model and prepare an implementation plan.

Officials present included Additional Collector Mohammad Mumtaz Ansari, SDO Chas Pranjal Dhanda, Civil Surgeon Dr A. B. Prasad, ED (HR) Rajshree, CGM Town Administration BSL Kundan Kumar, District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar, District Education Officer Jagarnath Lohra, District Education Superintendent Atul Kumar Chaube, DPM JSLPS, and Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh.
