Ranchi/Jamshedpur (Karandih):The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, attended as the Chief Guest, while the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren, were present as Special Guests at the 22nd Santali “Parsi Maha” and the Centenary Closing Ceremony of the Ol Chiki Script, held today at Dishom Jaher, Karandih, Jamshedpur.
On this occasion, the distinguished guests offered prayers at the Karandih Jaherthan following traditional rituals and paid floral tributes to the statue of Guru Gomke Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the inventor of the Ol Chiki script of the Santali language.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren stated that the empowerment and growing dignity of the tribal community have been made possible through the significant efforts of President Droupadi Murmu. He said that several programs organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan have consistently highlighted the culture, traditions, and identity of tribal society at the national level. The Chief Minister added that the President’s initiatives have greatly enhanced the honor and recognition of the tribal community, and her contributions deserve the highest appreciation.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Jharkhand Government is fully committed to giving recognition and respect to tribal languages and culture. He said continuous efforts are being made in collaboration with the tribal community in this direction. He expressed pride in honoring writers and intellectuals who have made invaluable contributions to the development of the Santali language and literature.
He further stated that the government is firmly committed to ensuring the teaching of the Santali language through the Ol Chiki script across the state. Along with this, continuous steps are being taken to preserve, protect, and enrich tribal languages. Today, the voices of tribal communities are reaching far and wide through languages like Santali.
Highlighting the legacy of Guru Gomke Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the Chief Minister said that the distinct identity of the Santali language and its Ol Chiki script is the result of his unforgettable contribution. Nearly a century ago, he created the Ol Chiki script and gave the Santali language an independent identity. He added that as long as the Ol Chiki script and the Santhal tribal community exist, Pandit Raghunath Murmu will remain immortal.
On the occasion, Lok Sabha MP and Advisor to the All Santali Writers Association Shri Kalipada Soren, President of the All India Santali Writers Association Shri Lakshman Kisku, President of the Jaherthan Committee Shri C.R. Manjhi, along with several representatives of the Santali community, were present.
