Tribal Traditions Strengthening National Harmony



Ranchi/Gumla: In the gracious presence of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Inter-State Folk Cultural Conclave cum Kartik Jatra was organized in Gumla. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, said that the land of Gumla is not only a symbol of rich culture and traditions but also represents courage, struggle, self-respect, and patriotism. He described the Hon’ble President’s visit as highly inspiring for 

the state.



The Governor warmly welcomed the Hon’ble President to the land enriched with Jharkhand’s valiant and tribal traditions. He also extended his welcome to the Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and artists and culture enthusiasts from various states who participated in the event.



The Governor stated that after assuming office, he has visited remote rural areas of almost all districts of Jharkhand and established direct dialogue with the people. He emphasized that his firm resolve is to make Lok Bhavan accessible to every citizen of the state and to actively serve as a protector of public interest. He underlined that the true strength of democracy lies in staying connected with the people.




Appreciating the women of Jharkhand, the Governor said that women are making commendable efforts toward economic self-reliance through self-help groups, thereby strengthening social leadership and promoting self-sufficiency.




Recalling the tenure of the Hon’ble President as the Governor of Jharkhand, he said that under her guidance and inspiration, significant positive changes were witnessed in Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools. He noted that nearly 28 percent of Jharkhand’s population belongs to tribal communities, with 32 Scheduled Tribes and several Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) residing in the state. Various schemes are being implemented for their holistic development, and ensuring that benefits reach everyone is a collective responsibility.




The Governor further stated that inter-state cultural conclaves are commendable initiatives that bring together folk traditions, dance, music, attire, and philosophies of life from different states

 on one platform. Such events, he said, strengthen the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and reinforce national unity, social harmony, and cultural integration.




Expressing gratitude to the Hon’ble President, the Governor expressed confidence that her visit would provide new direction and inspiration to the tribal community, women, and youth.
