Ranchi: On 28 December 2025, a strong protest was held at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi under the joint banner of CPI (ML), Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha, AISA, AIPWA, Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha, and several other organizations, demanding the protection of the environment. The protesters raised slogans such as “Save Aravalli, Drive Away Adani” and “Save Water, Forests, and Land.”
Prominent participants in the protest included Manoj Bhakt, Sivendu Sen, Nandita Bhattacharya, R.N. Singh, Alma Khalkho, Eti Tirkey, Elina Horo, Vinod Kumar, Leena Padam, Tom, Yakub Kujur, Sitaram, Inamul Haque, Nikhil Raj, Satyaprakash, Ajit Lakra, Praveer Printer, Aloka Kujur, Sapna Gari, Sushma Gari, Rekha Paswan, Sudama Khalkho, Mohan Dutt, Sumi Oraon, Rahul Kumar, Raju Mahato, Md Khalid, Kundan Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Nisha Kewat, Saloni Kewat, Ambika Yadav, along with many other activists and citizens.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said that the large-scale deforestation and mining in the Aravalli mountain range pose a serious threat not only to the region but to the country’s overall environmental balance. They termed the recent Supreme Court decision in favor of the government as deeply alarming, stating that it weakens environmental safeguards and promotes corporate interests.
The speakers alleged that the BJP-led government is misusing government institutions and the judiciary to serve the interests of corporate giants like Adani and Ambani, at the cost of the nation’s water, forests, and land. They warned that such policies would have devastating consequences for future generations, while the government remains indifferent to environmental destruction.
The protest also raised concerns over deforestation in Jharkhand, from Barkagaon to the Saranda forests, highlighting that while the national capital Delhi is suffering from severe pollution, forested regions are simultaneously being destroyed in the name of development to benefit big capitalists.
Concluding the protest, speakers emphasized the need to intensify such movements and mobilize people on a larger scale. They asserted that the people of the country will not allow the government and corporate forces to play with the environment or destroy the nation’s water, forests, and land.
