Bokaro: The launch of ‘Happy Street Bokaro’ on Sunday at Gandhi Chowk, Sector IV transformed the area into a vibrant arena of health, creativity, and community engagement. The programme was jointly inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant and Link Director for BSL, and Priya Ranjan, Designated Director In-Charge, Bokaro Steel Plant. The occasion was attended by Rajashree Banerjee, ED (HR), BSL, B.S. Popli, ED, Durgapur Steel Plant, Kundan Kumar, CGM (TA), BSL, along with senior officials from Bokaro Steel Plant and the district administration.
Describing the atmosphere, DC Ajay Nath Jha noted that this time the celebration extended beyond the street, with even the surrounding buildings appearing to share in the festive mood—an expression of growing public participation and civic pride. Alok Verma highlighted that such initiatives reinforce the bond between industry and society while promoting active lifestyles and inclusive public spaces.
A defining feature of this edition was the strong presence of schools, which lined the stretch with themed stalls showcasing student talent, creativity, and innovation. The displays underscored Bokaro’s standing as an educational hub, adding substance and youthful energy to the event. Refreshing food stalls further enhanced the ambience, lending colour and vibrancy to the morning.
The initiative concluded with appreciation for Bokaro Steel Plant for its sustained commitment to people-centric programmes. Happy Street Bokaro was acknowledged as a meaningful BSL-led effort that continues to promote wellness, positivity, and shared urban spaces across the city.
