Doctors Save Patient’s Life with Complex Brain Surgery at Paras Hospital

Ranchi: At Paras HEC Hospital, Ranchi, doctors successfully performed a complex brain surgery on a patient despite an extremely low platelet count, saving his life. The surgery was led by senior consultant neurosurgeon Dr. Arun Kumar.

The patient was suffering from a serious condition called Myelodysplastic Syndrome. In addition, a blood clot had formed on the left side of his brain, medically known as a chronic subdural hematoma. In this condition, an old blood clot accumulates beneath the outer covering (dura) and the surface of the brain, exerting severe pressure on the brain. The patient was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state.

Normally, a sufficient platelet count is essential for brain surgery, but the patient’s platelet count was only 14,000, a highly risky level. Despite this, considering the patient’s critical condition, Dr. Arun Kumar accepted the challenge and decided to perform the surgery immediately. Thanks to the expertise of Dr. Arun Kumar and his team, the operation was completely successful. After the surgery, the patient regained consciousness and his condition improved rapidly. Once fully recovered, the patient was discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Nitesh Kumar, Facility Director of

Paras Hospital, Ranchi, said that saving

a patient’s life under such extremely challenging circumstances reflects the hospital’s high-quality medical services and advanced facilities. The hospital’s aim has always been to provide patients with safe, accessible, and the best possible care.
