A Heart Patient With 99% Blockage Receives Successful Treatment, Discharged in Just Two Days

Ranchi: The cardiology team of Paras HEC Hospital, Ranchi, led by Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Kunwar Abhishek Arya, successfully saved the life of a 54-year-old diabetic and critical heart patient. The patient was brought to the emergency department in a highly unstable condition, with severe breathlessness, intense chest pain, and critically low blood pressure. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was immediately placed on ventilator support and shifted to the CCU with inotropic medications and other life-support measures.

It was revealed that two months earlier, stents had been placed in all three of the patient’s coronary arteries. However, the latest angiography showed that two of those stents were 99% blocked, the third was 40–50% obstructed, and the heart’s main artery—the Left Main Coronary Artery—had a 60–70% blockage. The patient was in heart failure and cardiogenic shock, and his heart was functioning at only 20–25% ejection fraction, making this a highly critical and life-threatening case. Immediate intervention was the

only option to save his life.

In this extremely challenging situation, Dr. Kunwar Abhishek Arya took the patient to the operation theatre on high-flow oxygen and inotropic support and performed IVUS-guided Left Main Bifurcation Stenting, one of the most complex and high-risk procedures in cardiology. The procedure was completely successful, and the patient’s condition improved rapidly. He was discharged within just two days.

During the three-month follow-up, the aqpatient’s ejection fraction improved significantly to around 40%, and he is

 now living a normal life.

Dr. Kunwar Abhishek Arya said, “Timely decision-making, advanced technology, and the team’s expertise played a crucial role in the success of this high-risk case.”

Paras HEC Hospital’s Facility Director, Dr. Nitesh Kumar, praised the team and said, “Successfully treating such a critical heart patient reflects the strong clinical capabilities and advanced facilities of our hospital. Our aim is to provide every patient with timely, safe, and high-quality medical care.”
