Kolhan’s Tribal Culture is a Priceless Heritage of India: Governor

Ranchi: The Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor of the Universities of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, attended the sixth convocation of Kolhan University, Chaibasa, where he conferred degrees upon students and research scholars and wished them a bright future. On this occasion, he said that the land of Kolhan holds a distinct identity across the country due to its rich natural resources, cultural heritage, and unique tribal traditions. The youth of this region possess immense talent, determination, and extraordinary potential to progress.

The Governor said that Kolhan is the center of India’s unique tribal culture. The youth here are not only bringing pride to their society and the state through higher education but are also deeply connected to their cultural roots, which is an inspiration for the entire nation.

In his address, he stated that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas” has given new direction to education, skill development, and innovation across the country. The National Education Policy 2020 is accelerating higher education by integrating India’s traditional knowledge systems with skill-based and modern technological education. He expressed confidence that Kolhan University can play an important role in realizing these objectives.

While motivating the graduating students, the Governor said, “Today you are not only receiving degrees but also new responsibilities. There is no shortcut to success. Honest effort, discipline, character, and humility will guide you forward in life.” He urged students to proudly represent the identity, culture, and values of Jharkhand wherever they go—whether in India or abroad—and to remain sensitive towards the weaker sections of society. He emphasized that the purpose of education is not merely to earn a degree, but to develop character, wisdom, and compassion.

Describing the present era as one of skill, technology, and innovation, the Governor advised the youth not to wait only for jobs but to develop the ability to create opportunities. He emphasized the need for stronger partnerships between the university and industries, research institutions, and local enterprises so that students gain practical experience along with better employment prospects. He added that every challenge in life also brings opportunities—students should remain confident, continue learning, and stay humble. “Just as a fruit-laden tree bends, true knowledge is reflected in humility,” he said.

In conclusion, the Governor congratulated the Kolhan University community for their consistent efforts and extended his best wishes to the university for achieving greater excellence in education, research, innovation, and social contribution.
