BSL’s Woman Officer Wins Gold at Jharkhand Powerlifting Championship; A Tale of Grit and Determination
Bokaro, November 11:
Shilpa Toppo, Assistant General Manager (Instrumentation & Automation) at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), has brought pride to the organization by winning a gold medal in bench press at the Jharkhand Powerlifting Championship held in Bokaro. Her achievement reflects courage, persistence, and unwavering determination.
A professional engineer, Shilpa had no prior experience in powerlifting. Yet, within a year of hard work and discipline, she outperformed seasoned athletes to secure this golden victory.
After a serious leg injury in a road accident, Shilpa refused to give up. With strong willpower, support from her family and colleagues, and guidance from her mentor Debi Prasad Chatterjee, she turned adversity into strength and made a powerful comeback.
Starting with a district-level event in 2023, Shilpa was later selected for the Eastern Regional Championship, but injury halted her progress. Returning stronger in 2024, she won two bronze medals in the 84 kg category, and this year, crowned her efforts with gold at the Jharkhand Powerlifting Championship.
Her success stands as a message that with courage, consistency, and confidence, no goal is beyond reach. The BSL management congratulated Shilpa Toppo, calling her a symbol of inspiration and women empowerment.
