Ranchi: On the occasion of the 31st martyrdom anniversary of Devendra Majhi, a tribute meeting was organized under the joint aegis of the Shahid Devendra Majhi Foundation and the Andolankari Mahasabha.
Addressing the gathering, Raju Mahto, Central President of Andolankari Mahasabha, said that Devendra Majhi’s struggle during the Jharkhand movement was unparalleled. He sacrificed his life fighting for the identity of Jharkhand, and the protection of its water and forests. Raju Mahto further stated that the people of Jharkhand will always strive to realize the dreams of Shahid Devendra Majhi. He demanded that the Jharkhand government immediately confer the status of martyr on Devendra Majhi.
Praveen Kerketta, Secretary of the Shahid Devendra Majhi Foundation, said that Devendra Majhi’s sacrifice would not go in vain. The people of Jharkhand will continue to play their role in carrying forward his vision. He added that the indigenous and tribal communities of Jharkhand pledge to spread the message of Devendra Majhi’s struggle and ideals to every corner of the state.
