Bokaro, October 8, 2025:
A high-level team from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) visited the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) to assess operations, projects, and overall performance.
The delegation comprised Sandeep Poundrik, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Steel; Ashish Chatterjee, IAS, Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser; and Abhijit Narendra, IRTS, Joint Secretary. They were joined by Amarendu Prakash, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SAIL; Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials); and Alok Verma, Director In-charge, RSP with additional charge of BSL.
The visit holds importance in light of investment-related issues and recent safety concerns at the plant. The officials reviewed the plant layout, followed by visits to the Sinter Plant 2 project site, Raw Material Handling Plant, Continuous Casting Shop, and Cold Rolling Mill Area-3.
Later, they met senior executives to review the current year’s performance, discuss HR and township matters, and assess modernization and safety initiatives. The team also visited the Learning and Development Auditorium, interacting with employees and encouraging focus on safety and innovation.
The visit reaffirmed the Ministry’s and SAIL management’s commitment to resolving investment challenges,safety issues, improving efficiency, and strengthening BSL’s role in the nation’s steel growth.
