The ‘Bhungroo Aqua Line’ Project to Script a New Chapter in Water Conservation in Jharkhand”


Ranchi :: Taking a significant step towards water conservation and sustainable development, the ‘Bhungroo Aqua Line Water Harvesting Project’ was inaugurated today in Ranchi district. The project was formally launched by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Shri Manjunath Bhajantri, who graced the occasion
as the chief guest.Focused on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and providing clean drinking water to rural communities, the initiative aims to address the growing challenges of climate change while strengthening the rural economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Shri Bhajantri said,

Water is the essence of life. The Bhungroo Aqua Line Project will not only promote water conservation but also strengthen the rural economy and help maintain environmental balance. Our administration is fully committed to combating the water crisis, and this project will stand as a milestone in that direction.”
Emphasizing the importance of social transformation along with development, he added,

We must not only free ourselves from the remnants of colonial exploitation but also fight against the ‘new colonizers’ — such as addiction, social evils, and environmental destruction. The Bhungroo Aqua Line Project is an integral part of this struggle.”

The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the District Water and Sanitation Mission, PHED, and the local NGOs for their role in implementing the project successfully. He also directed that the project’s impact should be evaluated on a quarterly basis and expanded to other regions as required.

A senior official from the Water Resources Department remarked,

“This project marks a revolutionary step toward achieving water self-reliance in Jharkhand’s rural areas. We plan to implement 10 more such projects across the state in the coming years.”

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of senior district officials, water resource experts, village heads, local residents, and environmental activists in large numbers.
