Ranchi(East singhbhum)::A crucial meeting on the protection of wildlife, especially elephants, was held at the Collectorate office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Karn Satyarthi. The meeting was attended by Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Saba Alam Ansari, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bhagirath Prasad, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, and other concerned officials.
The discussion emphasized that no negligence should occur in ensuring the safety of elephants. The Deputy Commissioner issued clear directives that wildlife must not be harmed due to electric wires or other structural issues. Long-term and concrete solutions are to be implemented at the departmental level as a mandatory measure.
The meeting also reviewed compliance with previously issued instructions. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer to ensure that electric wires in forest areas and elephant corridors are raised to the standard height. Wherever possible, insulated cables should be used to prevent electrocution. The entire electrical infrastructure must be made wildlife-friendly.
As per the State Government’s guidelines, a monitoring committee will regularly track the progress of these implementations. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that wildlife protection is a top priority, and all concerned departments must work in coordination.
Forest department officials were instructed to conduct regular patrols in areas with high elephant activity, raise awareness among local villagers, and ensure community participation in conservation efforts. This approach is intended not only to protect wildlife but also to reduce incidents of human-elephant conflict.
The development of an effective monitoring mechanism in high elephant-movement zones was also seriously discussed. The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that all departments must act with full commitment toward wildlife conservation, and any form of negligence will not be tolerated
