Preparations Begin for Ghatshila By-Election, Voter List Available for Verification Until

Ranchi:Ghatshila (September 2, 2025): Preparations have begun for the by-election in the Ghatshila Assembly constituency. Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar announced on Tuesday that the draft voter list for the constituency has been released. This by-election is being held due to the demise of former Education Minister and JMM MLA Ramdas Soren. According to the rules of the Election Commission, a by-election must be conducted within six months of a seat falling vacant.

Voter List Verification and Name Addition Process Begins
The Election Commission has appealed to all voters to check their names in the draft list between September 2 and September 17, 2025, at their respective polling stations or electoral offices.
If a voter's name is missing, incorrect, or needs to be deleted, they can apply using the following forms by September 17:
Form-6: To add a new name
Form-7: To delete a name
Form-8: To correct details
The final voter list will be published on September 29, 2025.
Number of Polling Stations Increased
This time, the number of polling stations in Ghatshila has been increased. Earlier, there were 291 polling stations, but polling centers with more than 1,200 voters have now been divided to create 9 new polling stations. Additionally, 4 old and dilapidated polling stations have been replaced, bringing the total number of polling stations to 300.
Number of Voters
Currently, the Ghatshila Assembly constituency has a total of 2,51,367 registered voters, including 1,28,050 women voters. Officials believe that with the inclusion of new names, this number may increase further.
The Election Commission has urged all eligible voters to verify their names in the voter list within the stipulated period so that they do not miss the opportunity to vote in the upcoming by-election.
