Ranchi :: Financial aid for needy students, support extended to thalassemia patient Sonam.Friends of Weaker Society has consistently been active in supporting education and helping underprivileged students. Continuing its efforts, the society recently came to know about Sonam Kumari, a resident of Pandara, who is suffering from thalassemia — a serious blood disorder that requires her to undergo blood transfusions twice every month. Despite her health struggles, Sonam is determined to continue her education.
Sonam had managed to get admission into Marwari College by borrowing money at interest. When Nadeem Khan from the social organization Lahu Bolega informed Friends of Weaker Society about her situation, the society promptly took action and invited Sonam. Not only did they help her repay the interest-based loan, but they also provided her with a cheque of ₹5,000 to support her education, clothing, and other essential needs.
In addition to Sonam, another student from Doranda was also helped. This student needed to re-enroll in Class 12 at Gossner College but was struggling financially as his father is a tailor and the family’s economic condition is weak. The society extended ₹4,000 in financial aid to support his education. Another student was also given a cheque of ₹5,000 to help him continue his studies.
On this occasion, the General Secretary of the society, Qamar Siddiqui, stated, “We believe that education is every child's right. No student should have to discontinue their studies due to financial or other difficulties. Friends of Weaker Society will continue to stand with the underprivileged students of society.”
The event was attended by the society’s General Secretary Qamar Siddiqui, Lahu Bolega's Nadeem Khan, Md. Naushad, and several other members.
