TMC secretary Soumen Beltharia has extended gratitude to chief minister Mamata Banerjee for launching the ‘Shramashree’ scheme, a major initiative aimed at supporting migrant workers in West Bengal.
The scheme will provide ₹5,000 per month to workers who are unable to find employment, with assistance continuing until they secure work. A dedicated ‘Shramashree Portal’ will be set up to issue ID cards to beneficiaries, while provisions will also be made for the admission of their children in schools.
Beltharia said the move highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring social security and dignity for migrant workers, calling it a “timely relief for thousands of struggling families.”
