Free Health Check-Up and Awareness Camp Marks World Health Day at S.D. Public School, Kirti Nagar

New Delhi, April 2026
– In a commendable initiative to promote preventive healthcare and wellness among the younger generation, Dr. Madhur Mahna and his dedicated team organized a comprehensive Free Health Check-Up and Awareness Camp at S.D. Public School, Kirti Nagar, New Delhi, on the occasion of World Health Day. The event focused on early detection of lifestyle-related health issues and empowering students and staff with practical knowledge for long-term well-being.

The one-day camp was specifically designed for school students and teaching/non-teaching staff. A total of 260 participants – including 200 students and 60 teachers and staff members – underwent free medical screenings. The initiative aimed to address rising concerns such as sedentary lifestyles, poor posture from prolonged screen time, nutritional deficiencies, and stress-related disorders that are increasingly affecting school-going children and educators.

Comprehensive Health Screenings Offered

Participants received a full suite of essential diagnostic tests at no cost, including:

  • Blood Pressure (BP) screening to detect hypertension early
  • Blood Sugar testing for diabetes risk assessment
  • Bone Mineral Density (BMD) evaluation to identify osteoporosis and bone health concerns
  • Neuropathy screening for early signs of nerve damage, particularly relevant for those with family history of diabetes
  • Hand Grip Strength test to assess muscle health and overall physical fitness
  • Pulse Rate monitoring for basic cardiac rhythm evaluation

These screenings provided valuable baseline health data, helping participants understand their current health status and take timely preventive steps. Many students and teachers expressed surprise at learning about hidden risk factors that could be managed through simple lifestyle changes.

Expert Talks on Joint Health and Women’s Wellness

Following the check-ups, Dr. Madhur Mahna, a renowned orthopedic specialist, delivered an engaging public lecture on “Keeping Your Joints Healthy for Life.” He highlighted the importance of posture correction, regular physical activity, balanced nutrition rich in calcium and vitamin D, and the harmful effects of excessive mobile phone and laptop use among children. Dr. Mahna emphasized, “Joints are the foundation of mobility. Small habits formed in school years – like maintaining correct sitting posture and staying active – can prevent arthritis and back pain in adulthood.”

Dr. Rupali Mahna, a leading Gynaecologist, addressed the gathering on “Female Health and Wellness.” Her session focused on adolescent girls and female staff, covering topics such as menstrual hygiene, nutritional needs during puberty, PCOS awareness, anemia prevention, and the importance of mental health. She encouraged open conversations around women’s health issues that are often overlooked in school settings.

The interactive sessions saw enthusiastic participation, with students and teachers asking insightful questions and pledging to adopt healthier routines.

Successful Closure and Vote of Thanks

The camp concluded on a high note with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the school Principal, Ms. Deepti Malhotra. She appreciated Dr. Madhur Mahna and his team for their selfless service and highlighted the school’s commitment to holistic student development beyond academics. “Health is the real wealth. Today’s camp has not only screened our students and staff but has also planted seeds of health consciousness that will benefit them for years to come,” she remarked.

The event was widely praised by parents and the school community for its timely focus on preventive healthcare. Organizers noted that several participants were referred for further consultation based on their screening results, underscoring the camp’s real impact.

Why Such Camps Matter

World Health Day serves as a global reminder that “Health for All” begins with awareness and accessible care. Events like this play a crucial role in bridging the gap between medical expertise and community needs, especially in schools where young minds are shaped.

Dr. Madhur Mahna’s team has expressed plans to organize similar camps across other schools and colleges in Delhi-NCR in the coming months.
