Block- and district-level monitoring committees formed; complaints can be lodged at 8986660333, 06542-242409, 06542-241000
Bokaro: To ensure smooth availability of domestic LPG cylinders and address consumer complaints, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha chaired a review meeting on Sunday at the district headquarters. The meeting assessed the current LPG supply situation and issued necessary directions to oil marketing companies, gas agencies and the supply department to prevent inconvenience to consumers.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the formation of monitoring committees at both block and district levels to review the LPG supply system regularly. At the block level, meetings will be conducted every fortnight under the chairmanship of the Block Development Officer (BDO), while the District Supply Officer (DSO) will review the situation at the district level every fortnight. A monthly review meeting will also be held at the Deputy Commissioner’s level.
Issuing a strict warning against black marketing, illegal hoarding and overcharging of LPG cylinders, the DC said strict action will be taken under the Essential Commodities Act if such activities are found. Citizens have been urged to report complaints to the district control room at 8986660333, 06542-242409 and 06542-241000.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed oil marketing companies and LPG agencies to introduce a single helpline number at the district level so that consumers can easily seek assistance regarding LPG-related issues.
The district administration clarified that the supply of domestic LPG cylinders in Bokaro is currently normal. Consumers have been advised to book cylinders at the prescribed intervals — 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas — and ensure that deliveries are made only at the government-approved rates.
The DC further directed that commercial LPG cylinders be distributed on priority under the supervision of the District Supply Officer to ensure uninterrupted supply for business establishments. The meeting was attended by District Supply Officer Shalini Khalkho and other concerned officials.
