Bokaro Steel Plant Reintroduces Chequered Plates Under DIC Priya Ranjan As SAIL Records Best-Ever Apr–Feb Sales

New Delhi, March 11: The Bokaro Steel Plant has reintroduced the production of chequered plates, marking the first time the product is being manufactured at the plant, aimed at meeting growing demand from infrastructure and industrial sectors.

The development comes as Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) recorded its best-ever sales during April 2025–February 2026, achieving 18.24 million tonnes (MT), a 14% year-on-year growth, along with record cash collection of ₹1.11 lakh crore, reflecting a 10% increase.

Notably, the chequered plates are being produced at Bokaro Steel Plant under the leadership of Priya Ranjan, strengthening the plant’s value-added steel portfolio.

In February 2026, SAIL achieved 1.58 MT sales, reduced inventory by 1.05 lakh tonnes, and lowered borrowings by ₹1,000 crore.

Commenting on the performance, A K Panda said the company is focusing on market-responsive production while maintaining financial discipline through efficient inventory and working capital management, adding that the record sales and cash collections reflect strong customer trust in SAIL’s products.
