DIC Priya Ranjan hoists flag; Two-day celebration showcases BSL legacy and vibrant community spirit

Bokaro: Spring arrived in full colour as Director In-Charge Priya Ranjan formally inaugurated Basant Mela 2026 with a ceremonial flag hoisting at the Library Ground, Sector-5. Organised by Steel Authority of India Limited at Bokaro Steel Plant, the annual fair has transformed the township into a lively hub of culture, heritage and celebration.

In his address, DIC Priya Ranjan described the mela as more than a seasonal festivity — calling it a symbol of unity and shared pride for the Bokaro Steel family. This is his first Basant Mela inauguration after assuming charge as DIC, Bokaro.

Spread over two days, the festival features a diverse range of stalls drawing enthusiastic crowds. Food courts, handicraft counters, amusement zones and departmental exhibits have been set up, with several displays reflecting the legacy, achievements and industrial journey of Bokaro Steel Plant. The stalls not only offer entertainment but also present a glimpse of BSL’s contribution to nation-building and community development.

Senior officials of BSL were present at the inaugural ceremony. With cultural performances, colourful décor and strong public participation, Basant Mela 2026 is being celebrated as a vibrant community festival, adding fresh energy to the city’s festive calendar.
