Ranchi/New Delhi: The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly opposed the attacks on Iran allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel, terming them a violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and international law.
In a statement, the party said the military action disregarded ongoing negotiations with Iran and contravened the UN Charter and established international treaties. Referring to remarks made by US President Donald Trump, the CPI(M) alleged that the attacks indicated a lack of commitment to diplomatic engagement. It accused the United States of pursuing an aggressive foreign policy towards sovereign nations.
The party noted that the developments came soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit to Israel. The CPI(M) urged the Government of India to unequivocally condemn the attacks on Iran and call for the immediate cessation of hostilities.
The statement described the situation as a serious threat to regional stability and international peace, calling for restraint and adherence to diplomatic solutions.
